12 December 2016
As we approach the Christmas break after what has been an incredibly long and busy term I would like to thank staff, students, parents and governors for their continued support in everything we do.
I would like to recognise the efforts of our students in raising money for charities such as Children In Need and the Accrington Food Bank (on the last day of this term).
School will be finishing on Wednesday 21 December at 1pm (buses have been re-scheduled as usual at the end of term). Could I once again ask for your support and remind you that we do not allow parents to use the school car park at the start and end of the day. This is to ensure the safety of pupils when arriving at and leaving the premises. I would also ask that you are considerate when parking outside school and avoid blocking residents’ drives and the yellow zig-zagged areas near the entrance and exit.
On a sad note, we say goodbye to Mr Riding, teacher of science, who is leaving at the end of term to take up a post at Todmorden High School and we wish him all the best for the future. I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking Mr Bedford, teacher of English, whose contract finishes with us at the end of this term. Miss Cockerill, teacher of English, will begin her maternity leave shortly after we return to school in the New Year.
Governors recently agreed the holiday pattern for 2017-18 and a copy of this is printed on the reverse of this letter. The holiday pattern, along with other important school information, can also be found on our school website. I should also remind parents that under the 2013 Education Act no holidays can be authorised in term time. If you do choose to go on holiday it is likely that a penalty notice will be applied as per school policy and current legislation.
I hope you all enjoy a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year and look forward to seeing all our students return refreshed and ready for a new school term on Thursday 5 January 2017.
