10 January 2017
I am delighted to welcome back everyone for what promises to be a very busy term ahead.
To assist in forward planning I have enclosed a copy of the term dates for the 2017-18 academic year. This is printed on the reverse of this letter.
Year 11 will begin their GCSE mock exams on Monday 23 January and should have a well-planned revision timetable in place by now. A copy of the mock exam timetable is on the website. To help structure their studying blank revision timetables are available from the headteacher’s office for any year 11’s that want them. Pupils should also refer to the Study Skills booklet for revision techniques.
I would also like to take this opportunity to inform everyone about the school’s annual activities day, which takes place on Wednesday 19th July. We will be offering a variety of opportunities for students to take part in activities both off and on the school site. These include sporting activities and a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. These opportunities are intended as a reward at the end of a year’s school work. With this in mind, it will be those students who have demonstrated hard work and good behaviour who will be given priority on trips over those who have a large number of behaviour points. For more information, there is a document entitled “activity day expectations” on the school website.
Finally, yet again, could I remind you all to take care when collecting and dropping off your children at school. Parents are not allowed to drive into the school grounds and when parking outside school, please do not park on the zigzag lines around the entrance and exit or in front of local residents driveways.
I thank you in anticipation of your support and look forward to another successful term at The Hollins.
If you do wish to discuss anything with me please do not hesitate to contact the school.
