Key Stage 3

Moodle

[English Home] [KS4] [Extra-Curricular]

All students at Key Stage 3 follow schemes of work which directly address the National Framework Objectives. All schemes incorporate the reading of a full range of fiction and non-fiction from a wide scope of cultures and eras. All schemes of work include functional tasks. Shakespeare is taught in all years in order to prepare for GCSE and develop students’ appreciation and enjoyment.
Students are assessed through a series of common assignments. These are marked and standardised regularly and targets are set regarding how to improve. All pieces of work are marked using A.P.P (Assessing Pupil Progress) enabling all students to know what National Curriculum level they are working at and how to achieve the level they are working towards. Self and peer-assessment are encouraged, with teacher support to enable students to monitor their own progress.
Lessons are designed to address a variety of teaching styles, using a wide range of learning activities and ICT. The English Department has chosen Moodle as its e-learning platform.
