AIMS
To stimulate students’ interest in their surroundings and in the variety of human and physical conditions on the earth's surface. To foster their sense of wonder at the beauty of the world around them. To help pupils to develop an informed concern about the quality of the environment and the future of the human habitat and thereby enhance students’ sense of responsibility for the care of the earth and its people.
RESOURCES
Each of the two teaching rooms is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and we have a huge selection of videos for classroom use. We have developed materials on the local area, including class sets of aerial photographs, OS maps and information cards. An extensive range of textbooks and worksheets are available in both rooms to meet the needs of students of all ages and abilities.
THE CURRICULUM
Students acquire and apply knowledge and understanding of places, patterns and processes through a variety of themes, geographical enquiry and skills.
KS3 : Lesson allocation is equivalent to 105 mins/week in year 9 and 70 mins/week in years 7 & 8.
KS4 : Lesson allocation is equivalent to 140 mins/week. |
