Lille Christmas Market trip
In December we have our 2 day visit to Lille, where we stay overnight in a hotel. The first day is spent visiting the town of Lille and doing some shopping at the Christmas markets while testing out our French speaking skills. Last year we all ate “Flammkuchen” (a French/German delicacy) for lunch at a local restaurant and tested the specialities of the region. Inthe evening we have a meal at the hotel, followed by fun and games in the recreation room (with prizes for the winners!). The following day we visit a chocolate factory in Belgium and then finish our Christmas shopping at the huge Cité Europe for some more shopping and then on to home.
Day trip to Boulogne
Every year we go to the French town of Boulogne as part of schools annual activity day. We set off from school at midnight and arrive in Calais at 8 in the morning and enjoy croissants and hot chocolate in a typically French café. After that we go to the town of Boulogne for some shopping, then on to a traditional French boulangerie where we can see croissants being made-and even have a go at making them ourselves! We then get a chance to taste the final products, before heading to Cité Europe for some more shopping and then on to home.
