9 Day Trip to Spain
July 2008
Day 1 Saturday 5th July 2008
Outward Journey We leave School at 0700h and head for the 1445h Seafrance ferry from Dover to Calais. We recommend that students take a packed lunch for the journey. We will stop en route to our hotel for our evening meal. We aim to arrive at our hotel at approximately 2200h. No meals included on Day 1.
Day 2 Sunday 6th July 2008
Day at Disneyland Park (entrance included)* Breakfast will be taken at 0830h and we will leave the hotel at 0930h for Disneyland Park. We will spend a full day in the Park. When the park closes at 2000h we will board the coach and settle into our reclining seats for the overnight journey to Spain. Breakfast included on Day 2.
Day 3 Monday 7th July 2008
Arrival in Spain After a breakfast stop (not included) we will book into our hotel at around 1000h. We will have lunch at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure in the resort. Lunch and evening meal included on Day 3.
Day 4 Tuesday 8th July 2008
Visit to Barcelona Breakfast will be taken at 0800h. After breakfast we will travel into Barcelona. Our day could start with a visit to Gaudi's famous Cathedral - La Sagrada Familia. Afterwards we could make our way to Barcelona's bustling Las Ramblas where we will spend some time sight-seeing and shopping. We could then make our way to Montiuic to see the castle with its stunning views and the Olympic Stadium and the nearby Poble Espanyol, a village of Spanish architecture with a craft market (extra £5.50 per student). We will return to our hotel in time for our evening meal. Breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal included on Day 4.
Day 5 Wednesday 9th July 2008
Visit to Girona and Marineland Breakfast will be taken at 0800h and we will leave the hotel at 0830h for Girona. We can then go to the waterpark and see the dolphins at Marineland (extra - £14.00 per student) for late afternoon and early evening. The excursions are included but entrance fees are extra. We will then return to our hotel for dinner. Breakfast , packed lunch and evening meal are included on Day 5.
Day 6 Thursday 10th July 2008
Day in (Universal Studio's Port Aventuru Theme Park After breakfast we will set off for Universal Studios Port Aventura (ticket included). We will return to our hotel for dinner. Breakfast and evening meal included on Day 6.
Day 7 Friday 11th July 2008
Visit to Montserrat After breakfast we will drive to Montserrat. Our coach could drop us off and we could walk or take the mountain railway up to the Monastery of Montserrat and see some of the most spectacular mountain views in Spain. The Basilica is open to the public (free of charge) and houses the beautiful La Moreneta (Black Madonna) icon. At 1pm daily the chanting of Ave Maria takes place, and the world famous Montserrat boys' choir sings. Our coach will meet us in the late afternoon and transfer us back to the hotel for dinner. Breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal lunch included on Day 7.
Day 8 Saturday 12th July 2008
Overnight to France We will have breakfast and spend the remainder of the day at leisure in the resort. We depart at 2000h for the overnight journey through France. Breakfast and lunch included on Day 8.
Day 9 Sunday 13th July 2008
Homeward Journey We then travel on to Calais for the 1340h Seafrance ferry to Dover. We aim to arrive back at school at approximately 2200h. A short stop at a motorway service station will be taken so that students can telephone home. No meals included on Day 9.
