A Day Trip To France

En France

The trip to Boulogne last term was a great success. We left The Hollins at midnight and travelled down to Dover to catch the shuttle over to Calais. We stopped for breakfast in a traditional French café where we sampled croissants, pains au chocolat, and real French coffee and hot chocolate. After breakfast, we travelled to Boulogne for a wander round the town, and to practise some of our French language skills by buying souvenirs, before getting back on the coach and travelling to a boulangerie (French bakery), where we learnt how everything is made. It was very hot in the bakery, but everyone listened and learnt a lot. Our last stop of the day was at an enormous shopping centre, where everyone had some free time to wander round in groups and speak some more French in the shops there, before climbing back onto the coach, very tired, to make the trip back to Accrington, where we arrived at midnight. It was a tiring, but an excellent trip, and as soon as we arrived back in Accrington, Mrs Dougan booked again for the following year!

In English....

In July, we went to Boulogne in France. It was great; we visited a French bakery, we ate breakfast in a typical French cafe and we did some shopping, practising our French. We were only there for a day, but we did a lot and had a really enjoyable day. Mrs Dougan is already looking forward to next year!
