The SEN Department consists of a SENCO, SENCO Admin assistant and 10 Teaching Assistants (Level 3).
Some members of the department support largely within single subject areas whilst others support individuals across the curriculum. They are responsible for the implementation of the statutory requirements of their statemented pupils which include individual educational plans, attendance at, and paperwork for, the annual review as well as advising and liaising with staff about their individual pupils.
The department is a flexible, supportive team who liaise very closely with Subject Leaders, Year Co-ordinators and class teachers in order to enhance each pupil to fully access school life, both socially and educationally.
The department has an effective small group intervention programme which provides extra support for identified pupils in Literacy, Numeracy, Speech and Language, Behaviour and Social Skills.
Training is important and needs are met when identified. Over the past year there has been training in specific areas-Speech Therapy, Behaviour Management and Visually Impaired Pupil access to the curriculum.
