Skiing – Alps – January
The Hollins annual ski trip departs in January each year bound for the Alps. The party includes pupils from Years 7-10.
Last year 21 pupils and staff travelled to Montgenevre France again for the annual ski trip. There was plenty of skiing during the day with time left over for ice skating, sledging, skidoo-ing and a disco/karaoke.
London Trip – December
The History & Citizenship departments take pupils to London each year to experience some of the historical sites of our capital city. Accomodation is at one of London’s Youth Hostels and visits include: The London Eye, London Dungeons, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London.
Lille Christmas Markets – December
The annual Christmas trip to France departs at midnight on a cold December day, everyone meets at school and they begin the journey to Lille by coach. We always try to sleep, and some of us actually succeed! We arrive at the channel tunnel at the crack of dawn the following morning, and travel to Calais, where we stop for a typical French breakfast in a local café. From Calais, we head to the Christmas markets in Lille. It is always very very cold, but we enjoy ourselves, and practise our French and buy some presents. In the evening, we eat in the restaurant of our hotel, after which some people head for bed, and the rest of us stay up to play some games. In the morning we board the coach once more and head for a chocolate factory just over the Belgium border, before returning to finish our shopping and speak more French in a big shopping centre just outside Calais. Finally, we travel back through the channel tunnel and arrive back at school at about midnight after two tiring, cold, but very enjoyable days.
